Assessment Practices for Multilingual Learners

January 9 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Did you know that nearly 40% of California students speak a language other than English at home? Our state is wonderfully diverse—and this diversity calls for highly skilled special educators. CalECSE is proud to partner with Project MUSE, the Special Education Resource Lead for students with disabilities who are also English Learners, to offer a no-cost virtual training on conducting culturally and linguistically appropriate assessments.

This session will support special educators in strengthening culturally and linguistically responsive assessment practices for dual language learners. With guest presenters from Imperial County SELPA’s Multilingual Students with Exceptional Needs (MUSE) team, participants will explore practical strategies for leveraging home language and culture to ensure assessments are valid, equitable, and meaningful.

Who Should Attend:

  • Special Education Directors and Program Specialists
  • School Psychologists
  • Speech and Language Pathologists
