Diana Gonzalez, owner of Diana Gonzalez Family Child Care in Bermuda Dunes, CA, shares how the Consortium has supported her growth as a family childcare provider. With over 10 years of experience and a bachelor’s degree in child development, she values the Consortium’s free, bilingual training opportunities that help her strengthen her skills and enhance the quality of care she provides. Diana’s deep love for her work shines through as she describes the joy of seeing children feel safe, loved, and excited to learn each day—a reminder that the true rewards of this profession go far beyond a paycheck.

What interested you in becoming a childcare provider?

I became interested in opening a family childcare home when my son was young because there was a lack of available providers in my area who could accommodate my family’s schedule. At the time, I wanted a career that would allow me to be present for my son’s doctor appointments, school field trips, and parent-teacher conferences while still earning an income. Opening my family childcare gave me the opportunity to support other families in my community while also being actively involved in my son’s life and development

What do you enjoy doing outside of childcare?

I enjoy hearing the birds, laying in my hammock, we are hosting volunteers for Olive Crest

What is something unique about your childcare?

As a bilingual provider, I communicate with children in both English and Spanish, helping them develop language skills while creating an inclusive environment for families from diverse backgrounds. My two assistants are also bilingual and share the same commitment to providing high-quality care. They exceed the minimum licensing requirements by pursuing additional training and professional development to ensure they can offer the best possible care, support children’s learning, and maintain a safe, nurturing environment.

What do you hope children gain from your time in your care?

My hope is that every child in my care feels genuinely loved, valued, and supported. Through play-based learning and meaningful interactions, I strive to nurture the whole child by supporting their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. I want the children to look forward to coming each day and to feel excited about being dropped off at my home. Most importantly, I want them to know that my family childcare is a safe, welcoming place where they belong a true home away from home.

Founded by a mother seeking better care for her child with special needs, VIP Tots has grown into a nonprofit leader in early childhood education. With a strong focus on diversity, community partnerships, and tailored family support, the center provides engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments designed to nurture every child’s growth, potential, and sense of belonging.

Sue Stockton

The Consortium for Early Learning Services is thrilled to announce Sue Stockton, Accounting Manager, Employee of the Month! As Accounting Manager for the last 19 years, Sue has provided CELS with her financial expertise. Sue’s dedication and hard work has been truly outstanding. We appreciate her commitment to excellence and her positive attitude. Our organization has been lucky to have had Sue as part of the Consortium team and we appreciate all her hard work and dedication. Sue will be retiring June 30, 2025.

Luna Day Care

Our first Family Child Care Home of the Month is Luna Day Care located in San Jacinto. Luna Day Care is owned & operated by Gabriela González, Gabriela’s program is family run. Her husband and three sons work with her as assistants. The Gonzalez family has studied child development so they can provide a developmentally appropriate environment and activities. They believe it is important to build trust with each child while supporting and strengthening their growth.
