California has implemented a statewide initiative to provide a strong and early start to education for all children through equitable access to Universal PreKindergarten (UPK)
The Consortium for Early Learning Services houses the UPK Mixed Delivery Planning Grant for Riverside County.
What is UPK?
Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK), is a policy framework that ensures any family who wants to enroll their preschool-aged child in a publicly funded, pre-kindergarten care and education program has the opportunity to make that choice.
Universal PreKindergarten (UPK) brings more flexible, high-quality early learning choices for your 3- and 4-year-olds that meet your families’ childcare needs. All families in California–regardless of immigration & income status–are eligible to participate.
What is the UPK Mixed Delivery Planning Workgroup?
The UPK Mixed Delivery Planning Workgroup (an Adhoc Committee under the Local Planning Council) will serve as a feedback forum to provide input and diverse perspectives about how to integrate a mixed delivery system approach to expanding care and education for three and four-year-old children as required by California Education Code 8320.
